Overview

Now's the time to explore Africa on your terms with this tour that's affordable for young travellers. Animals? Check. Adventure? Yep. Best travel friends? (Probably thought we were gonna use another 'A' word there, weren't you?) You bet. We've got everything you're looking for in an African exploration on this 24-day tour through East Africa. Embark on wildlife safari drives across the Masai Mara and Serengeti and trek through remote forests for the chance to encounter mountain gorillas in their own habitat. Travel aboard the Lando (overland adventure vehicle) is well-paced and wilderness camping along the way brings you closer to the region’s wildlife. Our certified CEO (Chief Experience Officer) will lead the way and share with you the hidden gems that will have your camera’s shutter working overtime.

Inclusions

About our Transportation

This trip utilizes a combination of vehicles, including a custom-built 24-seat overland adventure vehicle (OAV) and private 6-7 seat safari vehicles in the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater. Both types of vehicles offer advantages for wildlife viewing and enjoying scenic landscapes. Travel conditions can vary greatly, and road conditions can range from new to quite poor. On the trip, there is onboard storage for luggage, a safety box for valuables, front and sliding windows for wildlife viewing, reclining seats, a full kitchen, access to a tank of drinking water, air-conditioning, a charging station, and USB charging ports for all travelers.

Solo Travellers

Some of our Independent trips are designed differently, and single travelers on these itineraries must pay the single trip price.

What to Take

IMPORTANT ACCOMMODATION NOTE: Please note that as we use public campsites on all or part of this trip we cannot guarantee electricity for the use of Sleep Apnea and CPAP machines.

Accommodation

This trip includes a variety of accommodations: a basic hotel for 3 nights (single or twin-share), a permanent tented camp for 2 nights, participation camping for 11 nights, full-service camping for 2 nights, and hostels for 5 nights (multi-share with 3-4 people).

My Own Room

Please note that if you have booked the "My Own Room/Tent" option for this tour, you will receive your own single room/tent for all nights, except for the nights specified in the exceptions.

Rooming and "My Own Room" Exceptions

Camping in Africa is a true adventure, providing travelers first-hand experiences of the beautiful wilderness and nature. Campsite facilities can vary, but generally include small restaurants/bars, flush toilets, showers, washing facilities, and occasionally warm water. The safari canvas tents have built-in mesh insect netting and are regularly treated with waterproofing agents to minimize leakage in rainy conditions. The tour also includes portable camp chairs and cooking equipment. Note that in the national parks and conservation areas, campsite conditions can be very basic. Wildlife may wander into the camp area, so care must be taken, especially at night.

About Accommodation

Upon arrival at your joining hotel, look for a Welcome Note at the reception with information about your Welcome Meeting, including the meeting time (usually between 5pm and 7pm). This meeting provides an opportunity to meet your CEO and fellow travelers, learn about the trip itinerary, and discuss general and specific aspects of the tour. If you do not see a note, please ask the reception for details.

Joining Instructions

In case of any problems or if you are unable to commence your trip as scheduled for any reason, please contact your starting point hotel or the emergency contact details provided in the dossier. If you have pre-booked an airport transfer and do not encounter a representative within 30 minutes of clearing customs and immigration, please make your own way to the starting point hotel.

Arrival Complications

If you need to contact us during an emergency situation, it is best to call the G Adventures Local Representative or our G Adventures Local Office. If you are unable to reach them, please refer to the emergency contact details provided. Hours of operation by region can be found at https://www.gadventures.com/contact-us/?ref=footer.

Global Work & Travel works on a first-in-best-dressed basis. Booking earlier ensures that you don’t miss out on the best intake, season, placements and more! Can I travel with a friend or partner?

Yes you can! Simply tell your Trip Coordinator after booking that your friend is also going and they can link your profiles. For most of our trips we should be able to have you and your friends placed together or nearby. Meaning that you can live, work, play & travel together! But wait there's more! Not only can you travel the world with your besties at your side, you can also earn some extra cash towards your own trip just by referring your friends to Global Work & Travel. Can I bring my pet along?

At Global Work & Travel, we share a deep love for animals and fully understand the special bond you have with your pet. We recognise the challenges of embarking on a trip without them. Due to travel restrictions, requirements, and limited pet-friendly accommodations among our host organisations, we regretfully cannot facilitate their inclusion in the journey. However, many of our customers choose to entrust their pets to a family member or friend, embark on their adventure, and return home to wagging tails and furry cuddles.

What happens if I need to cancel my trip?

We know that life can get in the way of travel, so all our trips come with a great deal of flexibility. In most cases, if you cannot travel on your selected date, you can place your trip on hold to deal with whatever is holding you back, and continue in the future without incurring any penalty. You may also have the option of transferring to an entirely different trip and destination as well, or even transferring your trip to a friend or family member. In the event that you need to outright cancel your trip, if you give us 84* days notice you can do so with only a 50% cancellation fee. Your refund of the balance will come in the form of a Store Credit which you can put toward any other trip that we offer, including tours through third-party providers, as well as holidays through DealsAway.com, and is valid for 2 years from date of issue. As international travel can be complex, your options are based on the progress of your trip organisation and our support team can assist you in finding the best solution for your needs.
