Safety and Security

Many national governments provide a regularly updated advice service on safety issues involved with international travel. We recommend that you check your government's advice for their latest travel information before departure. We strongly recommend the use of a neck wallet or money belt while travelling, for the safekeeping of your passport, air tickets, travellers' cheques, cash, and other valuable items. Leave your valuable jewellery at home - you won't need it while travelling. Many of the hotels we use have safety deposit boxes, which is the most secure way of storing your valuables. A lock is recommended for securing your luggage.

Arrival Complications

In case of any problems or complications upon arrival, such as missing a pre-booked airport transfer, contact your starting point hotel or the emergency contact details provided in this dossier. If you still have not made contact with our representative within 30 minutes of clearing customs and immigration, make your own way to the starting point hotel using the joining instructions.

Trip Specific Safety

Be aware that petty theft can be an issue in some Vietnamese towns and cities especially late at night. A common tactic is opportunists on motorbikes that drive by and snatch bags. Please always leave valuables and passports etc in your hotel, in safety boxes if available, and only carry with you enough cash to spend for the day. Bags should always be carried over the neck and not left to sit on your shoulder. We do not recommend passengers to jump or dive into Kuang Sii Waterfalls in Luang Prabang, as this may result in injury.

Emergency Contact

If you find yourself in a situation of dire need, contact the G Adventures Local Representative or local office. If you are unable to reach them, refer to the emergency contact numbers or call our Sales team, available in various regions. In case of Bangkok Airport Transfer complications, consult the provided contact numbers for the G Adventures Transfer provider.

What to Take

Pack as lightly as possible, keep luggage weight under 10-15kg/22-30lb, and use a backpack or rolling bag of small to medium size. You will need a day pack/bag for carrying water, cameras, and other essentials like phone, as well as any sleeping bags or additional items if staying in homestays, villages, or camping.

A Word of Warning

In Asia, the dress standard is more conservative than it is back home. When packing, try to pick loose, lightweight, long clothing that will keep you cool in the usually hot and humid climate of Asian summers. In predominantly Buddhist, Hindu, and Muslim countries, we ask that you dress respectfully and avoid very short shorts/skirts and singlets/tank tops when visiting temples or mosques or other holy sites. In Pakistan, we recommend a headscarf for women while walking around.

Important Notes

25 breakfasts, 4 lunches, 3 dinners.

Packing List

A list of items to pack includes conservative clothing, essential documents like passport and vouchers, binoculars, camera, cash and cards, day pack, ear plugs, first-aid kit, flashlight/torch, fleece top, footwear, hat, locks for bags, long pants, money belt, outlet adapter, personal entertainment, reusable water bottle, shirts, sleepwear, travel towel, sunglasses, toiletries, watch and alarm clock, waterproof backpack cover, and windproof rain jacket. Health and safety items include hand sanitizer, face masks, pen, and a quick Covid test or antigen test.

Group Leader Description

Eating is a big part of traveling. G Adventures understands the importance of breakfast to start your day, we strive to include a basic breakfast wherever possible. A typical breakfast may include toast, coffee and tea, however, they may also be Asian style, consisting of noodles, congee (rice porridge), bread or eggs; this may vary depending on the city we're visiting. Vegetarians will be able to find a range of different foods, although in some areas the choice may be limited. Should breakfast not be included, your CEO can suggest some local options. Travelling with G Adventures you experience the vast array of wonderful food that is available out in the world. Generally meals are not included in the trip price when there is a choice of eating options, to give you the maximum flexibility in deciding where, what and with whom to eat. It also gives you more budgeting flexibility, though generally food is cheap. Our groups tend to eat together to enable you to taste a larger variety of dishes and enjoy each other's company. There is no obligation to do this though. Your CEO will be able to suggest favorite restaurants during your trip. While trekking in remote regions, food is included, plentiful and made of fresh local ingredients. For all trips, please refer to the meals included and budget information.

Why should I book now?

After the last unexpected disruption to travel caused by the..c word..people are now more eager than ever to venture out and explore the world, determined not to miss out on any experiences. Global Work & Travel works on a first-in-best-dressed basis. Booking earlier ensures that you don’t miss out on the best intake, season, placements and more! Can I travel with a friend or partner?

Yes you can! Simply tell your Trip Coordinator after booking that your friend is also going and they can link your profiles. For most of our trips we should be able to have you and your friends placed together or nearby. Meaning that you can live, work, play & travel together! But wait there's more! Not only can you travel the world with your besties at your side, you can also earn some extra cash towards your own trip just by referring your friends to Global Work & Travel. Just like any other social platform, you’ll be able to interact, share, chat and meet with some really cool people who are doing trips just like you!

Can I bring my pet along?

At Global Work & Travel, we share a deep love for animals and fully understand the special bond you have with your pet. We recognise the challenges of embarking on a trip without them. Due to travel restrictions, requirements, and limited pet-friendly accommodations among our host organisations, we regretfully cannot facilitate their inclusion in the journey. However, many of our customers choose to entrust their pets to a family member or friend, embark on their adventure, and return home to wagging tails and furry cuddles.

What happens if I need to cancel my trip?

We know that life can get in the way of travel, so all our trips come with a great deal of flexibility. In most cases, if you cannot travel on your selected date, you can place your trip on hold to deal with whatever is holding you back, and continue in the future without incurring any penalty. You may also have the option of transferring to an entirely different trip and destination as well, or even transferring your trip to a friend or family member. In the event that you need to outright cancel your trip, if you give us 84* days notice you can do so with only a 50% cancellation fee. Your refund of the balance will come in the form of a Store Credit which you can put toward any other trip that we offer, including tours through third-party providers, as well as holidays through DealsAway.com, and is valid for 2 years from date of issue. As international travel can be complex, your options are based on the progress of your trip organisation and our support team can assist you in finding the best solution for your needs.
