Activities and Logistics
CEO (Chief Experience Officer) throughout the trip.
Activities and Logistics
There are optional activities in various locations - Miyajima (Mt. Misen Visit), Kyoto (Zen Gardens of Ry?an-ji), Tokyo (Ginza Shopping, Imperial Palace East Gardens Walk, Ueno Park Visit, Meiji Shrine Visit), and Asakusa (Sens?-ji Temple Visit).
Activities and Logistics
It's essential to pack as lightly as possible for rail travel in Japan. All G Adventures tours use the world-famous Shinkansen bullet trains, which have a restriction on maximum luggage size: less than 160cm in total. We strongly recommend bringing a day pack or backpack to use during the day for daily essentials like water, cameras, and passports. Travelers who bring luggage exceeding this restriction will be directly penalized by the Central Japan Railway Company, with fees for excess luggage, subject to availability. Luggage over 251cm in total is prohibited on Shinkansen trains. It's highly recommended that you travel light and have easy-to-handle luggage, capable of walking up and down stairs with your luggage without assistance. Japan’s takuhaibin service is a convenient and reliable way to transfer luggage from one location to another throughout the country, making it a great way to travel light and avoid hauling large bags on crowded trains or up and down stairs. Please make sure to pack a day backpack or a small/lightweight bag for the group overnight in Koyasan.

Joining Instructions
For details of your joining hotel, please refer to your tour voucher, G Account, the G Adventures App, or contact your travel agent. To get from Kansai Intl Airport (KIX) to our commonly used joining hotels, first, get some cash. After passing through customs, stop by a bank counter or an ATM machine on the first floor to get some Japanese Yen. This may be your last chance to exchange cash easily in Japan, as only certain banks do currency exchange. Detailed directions to Hearton Hotel Nishi Umeda and Holiday Inn Express Osaka City Centre - Midosuji are provided. Please note that day 1 is an arrival day, and no activities have been planned on this day. Once you arrive at your Joining Hotel, look out for a Welcome Note which will be left at reception with all necessary information regarding your Welcome Meeting, along with the meeting time (usually between 5 pm and 7 pm). This is when you will get a chance to meet your CEO and other travelers, receive information about any general and specific aspects of the trip, and learn more about how the tour will run. If you don't see a note, please ask reception for details!
Arrival Complications
We don't expect any problems, and nor should you, but if for any reason you are unable to commence your trip as scheduled, as soon as possible, please contact your starting point hotel, requesting that you speak to or leave a message for your CEO. If you are unable to get in touch with your leader, please refer to our emergency contact details. If you have pre-booked an airport transfer and have not made contact with our representative within 30 minutes of clearing customs and immigration, we recommend that you make your own way to the Starting Point hotel, and apply to your travel agent on your return for a refund of the transfer cost if this occurs.
Emergency Contact
Should you need to contact us during a situation of dire need, it is best to first call either the G Adventures Local Representative or our G Adventures Local Office. If for any reason you do not receive an immediate answer, please leave a detailed message and contact information, so they may return your call and assist you as soon as possible. Emergency contact numbers are provided, including for arrival transfer representatives, G Adventures Local Office, and toll-free numbers for various regions. If you are unable to contact our local office, please call the sales team numbers provided.
